PETER BERGMAN:

We asked Peter Bergman who is a big fan of FLC what he considers is the main advantages with the software.
For how long have you been associated with road racing?
Since 2008, but not raced actively in a series until 2013.
When did you start using FLC?
As soon as it was released, 2013. Back then it was the old version with the edgy line function making it harder to get the line smooth. When there has been new releases they have contacted me to give me free updates.
How has FLC improved your race?
I have been able to find some alternative lines, particularly on tracks that are less familiar to me but also on others where you have some habits that you could find ways to change.
What are your thoughts on the main benefits of FLC?
To be able to experiment with different race lines. E.g. to move a raceline forth and back until the ideal is found. You also spend a lot of time studying the track which makes you realize that in some areas there are much more track space than you use.
Why would you recommend FLC to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet?
I have recommended it to several people already. Partly because it is fun to work with and it actually helps you find a good line particularly on tracks that are new to you.
Do you remember any specific incident or race where you felt FLC improved your lap?
It was at Most in the Czech Republic. The track was new to me and after the first day all of us were convinced that time could be gained in a tricky chicane after the main strait. When using FLC in the evening it did not matter which line I choose through there I could only gain a couple of tenths. However in another section with sweeping left and rights where I did not really expect to find any time there was a full second to be had.
During the second stint the next day I cut my lap time by over two seconds. However it was only my second day on that track so I still had a lot to learn about it, but I am convinced FLC helped me achieve those times much quicker than I would on my own, which I believe could have taken days, if at all.
